So I have created an account on WebQuest and I like it. At first, I did not quite understand what I can use it for. I was puzzled a bit. Even the samples were not of a great help. As I am the adept of "involve-me-and-I'll-understan" issue I started to realize its benifits.
Firt of all it can be used as a guideline for the assignments the students should do. It can show from the very beginning what the teacher expects them to achieve during this course, lesson, etc. Secondly it stores all the links and files the students might need for the course. This is extremely good as their search will get a more organized character. Then there is the possibility of creating rubrics there as well. Once again the students will know exactly how they will be appriciated for their work. And all this can be found in one place.
I'm working on a WebQuest I intend my students to use when we are going to cover the module: "A Friend in Need" from our curriculum. I hope they'll be as thrilled as I am.
Hi Vicky!!
ReplyDeleteYour post was really helpful to me, as I did some reading on alternative assessment and rubrics yesterday and tonight is the WebQuest's turn. so, by reading your post, I immediately got to understand it! Thank you!
Hi, Georgia!!!
DeleteI'm glad to be of any help. I think you'll love WebQuest!

Hi Vicky,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are so positive about the webquest and you find it clear and useful. As for me, I am still puzzled with some parts of it and the way it is used. I am used to blogging, where I can post links and resources for my students and other websites for keeping my own private resources which I plan to use in the class. Webquest, seems to me, combines those two and that makes me a bit confused. Hopefully I will get the point on time.

Hi, Marija!
DeleteNo doubt you will. You'll see that it helps you organize the teaching process better. As we were told as a reminder by Jodi "technology is not the answer. It's only the tool to help you reach your objective."
WebQuest appears as this type of tool where you can post what exactly you are going to do at a lesson or a unit comprising several lessons. It will give direct access to the needed material the students should have for the lesson(s). In addition it comprises the information how they are going to be evalluated. I think it is useful. Do you?
Vicky :)
Thank you Vicky. I have been exploring WebQuest today and I have to say that I like it more and more. Sometimes I get stuck or confused with certain tools, therefore I don't like them at first. Later on, I usually like those tools best. Maybe that's going to be the case with Webquest too, we'll see. :)
DeleteThank you again. Now I can understand better your excitement about this quest for a new tool. Hopefully, I will share my webquest on wiki in a day or two.
Marija
Looking forward to it!!!
